Jo Taylor

Published Author and Poet

Jo grew up in a small farming town in Middle Georgia, the seventh of nine children. She received her B.A. from the University of Georgia in 1975, and taught high school English for over thirty-five years. Now retired and living in Covington, Georgia, with her husband of fifty years, she enjoys writing poetry, her favorite genre to present to her high school students, her themes dealing with faith and doubt, nature and family, and the indomitable spirit in nature and man. In 2021, she published her first collection of poems, Strange Fire, and in the spring of 2024, she released her second book, Come before Winter (Kelsay Books). She enjoys walking in early morning, playing Charades and Pictionary and baseball on the beach with her two grandsons, and collecting and reading cookbooks in her leisure time. Jo works on her craft every day, writing, revising, reading other poets, collecting quotes and bits of conversation, observing her world. She was nominated for Best of the Net in 2023.
